Hi everybody!
I'm pretty new to Diet. I am 34 years old and I joined the group New year, healthier you because this 2010 is really being my weight-loss year. I've been struggling with my extra weight since I was a teenager but in the last few years I gained more than 30 pounds because of my unhealthy eating habits. Well, I felt horrible, so three months ago I decided it was time I did something to get rid of all that extra weight.
I had never gone on a diet before and I did not want to starve myself or skip my meals. I strongly believe that the real key to weight-loss is making a lifelong change in your eating habits, learning balanced nutrition and put it into practice every single day of your life, not just for a limited period of time! That's why I chose a mediterranean diet (Italiandiet, a plan I found on the web). It's a complete set of eating habits, rich in grains, fruits and vegetables and providing your body with a balanced intake of all the nutrients you need. No foods are off limits, you just learn how to combine them in a healthy mix. I've lost 20 pounds so far, I still have 10 pounds to get rid of and I'm afraid they will be the most difficult ones, so I am here looking for support and encouragement in my last few steps toward a BETTER ME! :-)
I also hope that my story and achievement may help all of you find the right approach to losing weight, not to get discouraged and keep up your good work!

Wow! Congratulations to you for your big weight loss success! Is the last 6-10 pounds reasonable for your height and current weight? Just make sure that you are not trying to get too thin because our bodies have built in regulators that make it extremely difficult to go below a certain point without starvation. If this is not the case, then concentrate on using more energy then food you eat. Whatever you are doing, do incrementally more. Also, eating low calorie "filling foods" will keep you feeling not hungry for longer between meals. I found a great website called nutritiondata.com. It is a great reference for lots of foods to see how each stacks up nutritionally. Weight Watchers is also a great place to learn about losing any amount of weight. They are not about dieting but about changing your lifestyle away from destructive to healthy. You can join online only and get great tips, recipes and weight-loss tips from experts. Good Luck!

I don't go out much. Even though I have lost a lot of weight to date, i am constantly thinking about my bulges. I really believe that others judge me based on the extra "meat" hanging above my jeans.

Wear a lot of the clothes i want to..I'm not fat but I've never been confident about how I look. I always let my stomach get in the way of looking the way I do or wearing a hot bikini during the summer :(..Once I get thin I'm going to rock the fashion I love =)

The one thing I've always wanted, is to wear low-cut jeans and a white tank-top! That's the goal!

Hey, I am new too. I lost some weight and have kept it off. I watched my carbohydrates, like bread, corn, rice, pasta. Keeping it to one serving per day. I also allowed a sliver of a piece of cake if it was someones birthday, because if I had it and did not allow it, I would binge. PLUS I wrote everything I ate down.

Hey! I totally changed my lifestyle for quite some time and i have noticed a huge difference not just physically but mentally...I don't go to a gym as I have everything in my own apartment. You need to have your strength training to help tone your body up and lose those inches and also something like walking, running, aerobics...YOGA is amazing they have some great work outs on itunes and also youtube. You also have to devote yourself tell everyone so they can support you and make this life change to better yourself and live a long happy life! :) I hope you do well on your journey!

p.s Don't forget to drink lots and lots of water p.s.s try to change the way you eat also webMD has some great tips on dieting or fitness/health related things
