I'm pretty new to Diet. I am 34 years old and I joined the group New year, healthier you because this 2010 is really being my weight-loss year. I've been struggling with my extra weight since I was a teenager but in the last few years I gained more than 30 pounds because of my unhealthy eating habits. Well, I felt horrible, so three months ago I decided it was time I did something to get rid of all that extra weight.
I had never gone on a diet before and I did not want to starve myself or skip my meals. I strongly believe that the real key to weight-loss is making a lifelong change in your eating habits, learning balanced nutrition and put it into practice every single day of your life, not just for a limited period of time! That's why I chose a mediterranean diet (Italiandiet, a plan I found on the web). It's a complete set of eating habits, rich in grains, fruits and vegetables and providing your body with a balanced intake of all the nutrients you need. No foods are off limits, you just learn how to combine them in a healthy mix. I've lost 20 pounds so far, I still have 10 pounds to get rid of and I'm afraid they will be the most difficult ones, so I am here looking for support and encouragement in my last few steps toward a BETTER ME! :-)
I also hope that my story and achievement may help all of you find the right approach to losing weight, not to get discouraged and keep up your good work!
